Change my heart…renew my strength

“But those who entwine their hearts with Yahweh will experience divine strength. They will rise up on soaring wings and fly like eagles, run their races without growing weary, and walk through life without giving up.” This is Isaiah 40:31 from The Passion Translation.

God is the Potter, we are the clay that he molds according to His divine purposes. Clay vessels come in various shapes, styles and textures in accordance with the purposes for which they were molded or created.

God knows the purpose for which He made each human person. Our primary pursuit, our heart’s desire should be to cooperate with the maker to discover  and live that purpose. We should ask and rely on the Potter who alone energizes  and enables us to be willing and to be able to accomplish his purposes.

But it starts in the heart. “Change my heart,  Lord…make it true…”

Isaiah 40: 3-4  NLT says the glory of the Lord will be revealed and all will see it. but first we have a role to play in our hearts. We must vacuum and get rid of the murk, debris and every hindrance:

“Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God! Fill in the valleys, and level the mountains and hills. Straighten the curves, and smooth out the rough places” (Isaiah 40:3-5).
